Management Series: The Course to Effective Leadership: Knowing Yourself and Knowing your Team

The genesis of leadership starts with two principles: knowing yourself and knowing your people. Great leaders focus on inclusion, engagement, and growth of those under their direction and in doing so, grow the organization.

Leaders also understand their own strengths and challenges, and the outward projection of these qualities. Whether in charge 3 or 3,000 people, this presentation is meant to provide attendees with easy and practical techniques to first recognize the leader in themselves, provide a means to better understand their people, then weave this information into actionable practices within their everyday work environment.

Become the leader your employees seek to follow, and other business owners want to emulate. With 24 years of active and reserve military service, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan; and as a civilian from developing high-performing teams in medium-sized corporations to starting my own company, Jennifer Donahue seeks to share important leadership lessons.

Are you interested in becoming a better leader? Join us in a six-part management series to develop core competencies and share experiences with other SWE leaders. We will host sessions from engaging leaders every second Monday of the month at 7 PM and all ticket sales go towards our scholarship program. There are three areas we will focus on.

1. Yourself: Use your self-awareness and strengths to develop your personal leadership style
2. One on One: How do you coach your employees and provide effective constructive feedback?
3. Team: Be able to develop a compelling vision and create an inclusive culture for your group.
